Pastor Liz |
Pastor Liz Emrey
has a passion to share the love of Christ with everyone, especially
those who do not feel comfortable in traditional churches. In each
of the churches where she pastored, in New York, Connecticut and Virginia,
she created special ministries for ex-offenders, people with HIV/AIDS,alcoholics,
addicts, refugees and the homeless. After serving four years as an
Assistant Pastor at First Baptist Church, West Main,in Charlottesville,
Pastor Liz felt called by God to start an inter-racial church in Charlottesville, which
welcomes everyone. Many months of prayer and seeking God's guidance
led to New Beginnings Christian Community having our first official
worship service on Easter Sunday, 2002.
Pastor Liz was ordained by the American Baptist Churches in 1978 and
received her Doctorate of Ministry in New Testament Ethics from The
School of Theology at Claremont. She has also studied at Yale Divinity
School, the University of Virginia and the Shalem Institute in Spiritual
Direction. Pastor Liz not only continues to be a student, but she
enjoys working with students. Her first pastoral pastoral ministry
was the Chaplaincy of the University of Redlands in California
